Direct Advertising Income

One more method of making money on your web site is by direct advertisement.  In other words, selling space on your web site to advertise from.  depending on how much traffic you draw and your demographics, (middle age people, younger people, men, women, etc), your space is worth money.  once you own a web site, you are a publisher who has the potential to sell advertising space on your site.  It may not be a lot or it may be worth hundreds or even thousands depending on your web site.  There are a couple ways you can do this, one is to put a sign up there, "Advertise here", with a price on it and see if anyone bites.  Another method is to find advertisers who will pay you for putting their banner up there.  If you sold 6 advertising spots, one at the top of the page, and five along the right side and only made $10/month for each ad, then you have a web site that costs you $75 per year or less to host it, another $10/yr for the domain name, and a total income of $720/yr for the advertising income.  That is pretty good math, even though we would like to see more than that.  Now build 10 web sites and do the same thing, and you have a $7100+ positive income, and if anyone purchases through your affiliate links, that is just a bonus.  Granted, I'm not painting you a get rich or a get rich quick picture, but you can see how even cheap advertising can add up.  I've shown you what the potential for an affiliate site can be from our Christmas season, add that to the above income, throw in the writers income, (you haven't read that yet), and Adsense and before you know it, your telling your boss that you are too busy to help him out any longer.
