What I will show you on this website is NOT a get rich quick scheme, in fact we will show you several ways to make money online and work at home, (which are all techniques we use), but you can work at home for extra cash or to make a living with your computer and an internet connection.

Many people have tried affiliate programs, and when they did not pay off in the first two months, they give up. Don't give up, keep searching, keep trying, there is money to be made and I am living proof. I have been a work at home internet worker for the past 3 years.

If you go to a website that promises you will get rich quick, leave that web site, (unless we recommend it because all ebook sites tend to brag).  If they promise you it is easy money, get off that web site.  If you have not done this before, you have a learning curve to meet.  Starting an Affiliate Marketing site you may not make money for 6 months, or you might make a thousand dollars your first month trying.  Some people will tell you affiliate marketing is a thing of the past, or that it just doesn't work, but it does, you just have to learn how to do it correctly, and you need some marketing secrets. There is one book we do recommend for affiliate marketing, and we have read several, that is Rosalind Gardners' book The Super Affiliate handbook! She can give you in depth detailed look at affiliate marketing and is one of the leading success stories of Affiliate marketing. If you want to work at home and do better than writing articles, affiliate marketing is probably the best way to do so.

In the first four months of having an affiliate site, I connected it to a site that we already had established and it generated some traffic for us, but for four months we made nothing.  Suddenly in August of 2005 we had generated $120 in commissions, and we had not advertised other than putting a link from one of our web sites.  Once I saw that potential, we stepped up the program by creating a new domain and opening an advertising campaign on Google.  I knew nothing of advertising, how much I should spend, how high I should advertise, or what percentage of people clicking on an ad would actually make a purchase, but I got my feet wet and jumped in and tried it.  Without having the money to spend on a program or ebook to teach me how to do any of these things, I was under way. The first month we spent about $300 in advertising and received about $600 in return, by Christmas season, we were profiting $800+ per month, and by the end of that tax season, we had received a check for as much as $1900 on about $500 advertising expenses.  As you can see, we did not get rich quick, and we were still not rich, but we were on the right path and we are still learning, not only how to market the product, but other sources of online income as well. Our biggest problem was knowing nothing about Google Adwords and how the system works.  Because of our lack of knowledge, some keywords jumped from an initial 50 cents per click to $5.00 per click which was rediculous, and it cost us in many areas.  once we started making money, we invested in a very powerful book called Beating Adwords. Written by someone who knows Googles advertising system very, he clearly outline the keyword value system used by Google which will make a huge determination on now much your key words are going to cost.

The next lesson we learned was that the type of industry we were promoting pretty much died after the tax return season, in July, Aug, Sep & Oct of 2006 we barely scraped by with a profit, but we were still getting exposure to our web site, and people were getting to know who we were and where to purchase their items.  Then came the Christmas of 2006, and boy did it scare me. We made in excess of $3000 in Nov, $6000 in Dec, and $4000 in January.  The payments normally come at least 30 days later, but in this case our affiliate merchant paid us within the 30 period after the end of the month.  Below you can see some of the payments we received from Linkshare, ( Join LinkShare Today! ), and these payments are from only one affiliate because that is all I was promoting on this web site.

In Jul 2006 we don't show any money because we received June and July's payments in August.  Same goes with March 2007, as we received both Feb and Mar payments in April.  Now, like I said above, we are not getting rich off this, but I basically have one web site, (that will soon change), that makes us money, and I am only promoting one affiliate on this web site, yet for Dec 2006 thru Apr 2007 we had a gross commission of $17,261.95.  For that commission period we spent $4382.99.  Our net profit for those 5 months was $12,878.96.  This is not getting rich quick with this affiliate marketing site, but here is the deal.  I work the first two days of the month rebuilding this web site, (about 18 hours), then the rest of the month I spend about 1 hour per day checking all the product I have listed to make sure what I'm advertising is in stock and check for potential new items to promote.  The total is about 36 hours per month or the equivalent of 1 day per week, the rest of my time I spend with my wife and children whom we homeschool.  We took the past month off and travelled across the country, camping at state parks and enjoying nature and life. Did I forget to mention that I am disabled, and the money we made in the 3 months of Christmas was more money than we made the entire year the year before. As you can see by the figures above for only one web site, we work at home and don't do too bad at it.  With our other work at home jobs and our affiliate marketing sites combined we intend to pay for an RV this year and live touring the country.

This summer we will start a new web site promoting products for summer activities, not Christmas items and Big boy toys.  Think about this too, what do people like? SALES...  Find products on sale and promote them, that makes up about 95% of our action, and once the people are there, they buy other items to, the trick is getting them to click through your website to the merchant, the rest is automatic.  Find products that will make you $15 or more in commissions, our biggest reasons for promoting only one affiliate in the product line we promote is because they are the highest paying merchant in this field, and they have some of the most competetive prices on the market.  People like that, and they will come back, they know our name and the domain name reflects what we sell or what we are about. People will remember that.

Last but not least, learn from the best, learn from people who have already made the mistakes.  I was disabled, flat on my back with a back injury, denied Social Security, denied medicaid, and denied medical treatment because we had no money, but we had no choice, we had to learn how to work at home successfully.  We could not go out and buy the ebooks to learn from others, but since we have made money, we have purchased some of the books and have learned a great deal in how to trim our costs, how to increase our profits, how to advertise efficiently, and more.  Our percentage of increase is at least double what it was a year ago.  During the peak rush of Christmas Season last year, we were makeing about a 500% ROI, (ROI stands for return on investment).  In otherwords, for every $100 we spent in advertising, we were making $500 back.  When averaged in with the not peaks times of the Christmas, we still averaged a 400% ROI, which isn't bad.  It is a heck of a lot better than my retired mother does on stocks & money markets, and I have control on a day by day, minute by minute basis.  When things are selling quick, I can do things to increase my traffic, when things slow down, I can cut my costs accordingly.  Stocks & bonds you have no control, you can lose it all overnight, but you can work at home with affiliate marketing and earn some extra cash that you have control over.

The bottom line is, we learned that indeed you can work at home and use affiliate marketing for a living.
